It is time for those eligible and interested to register to vote! The 2024 USA Judo Board of Directors election will take place October 7-10, 2024, through electronic means provided by an independent third-party vendor, to fill the following six board of directors positions whose terms end on December 31, 2024. Each of the following positions is for a four-year term and the voting eligibility and registration link are provided below for each category.
Voter registration is open from September 10–27, 2024. Individuals not registered to vote in the respective categories for which registration is required and they are eligible by 11:59 p.m. Pacific time on Friday, September 27, will not receive an electronic voting ballot.
- Athlete Directors (2) will be elected by registered USA Judo Elite Athletes who meet 10-year athlete eligibility as defined in section 6.6b of the USA Judo Bylaws. Each USA Judo Elite Athlete shall have one vote for each candidate. Eligible elite athletes can register to vote here.
- Group Member Director (1) will come from nominations made by the contributing organization and state organizational members of USA Judo that are in good standing as of August 1, 2024. Each organization’s chair, president, or top elected official will be designated as the voting representative for each organization in good standing. Nominees will stand for election by the registered contributing and state organizational members at the annual USA Judo Assembly scheduled to take place on November 22, 2024. The USA Judo Group Organizations’ chair, president, or top elected official from each group member in good standing can register their voting representative here.
- Coach Board Member (1) will be elected by current coach members of USA Judo (as defined in Section 6.6.f. of the USA Judo Bylaws). Each USA Judo coach member in good standing shall have 1 vote and can register to vote here.
- At-Large Director (1) will be elected by registered USA Judo members 18 years of age and older in good standing from amongst the qualified candidates presented by the nominating and governance committee. Eligible USA Judo members do not need to register to vote for the at-large director.
- Independent Director (1) will be selected by the nominating and governance committee no later than October 11, 2024, from amongst qualified nominees.
PLEASE NOTE that USA Judo Members who are qualified to vote in more than one category, other than the At Large or Group Organization Category, are only allowed to vote in ONE category. For example, if an individual is eligible to vote as an athlete AND coach, they must confirm which of the two categories in which they will vote as they are not allowed to vote in both. This bylaw does not apply to the At-Large Director that is open to all current members in good standing who are 18 years of age or older, nor does it apply to the group membership where an individual is serving in their role as a group representative, not as an individual.
