President's Cup Awards 580 Medals

(Irving, TX) – Two hundred and thirty-five gold medals were awarded Sunday during the 2024 USA Judo President’s Cup in Irving, Texas. The one-day competition took place at the Irving Convention Center and saw Cohen Brothers Judo Club (Vernon Hills, Ill.) win the team title with 43 medals (13 gold, 15 silver, 15 bronze). Ki-Itsu-Sai National Training Center (Coconut Creek, Fla.) finished second with 26 medals (15 gold, 7 silver, 4 bronze). Westlake Judo Club LLC (Richmond, Texas) was third with 17 total medals (7 gold, 7 silver, 3 bronze).

Nine athletes achieved the feat of reaching the podium in both the junior and senior divisions, including Chloe Williams (Stafford, Va. / Wall 2 Wall Martial Arts) who medaled in three divisions by winning gold in both the cadet and junior female 70 kg divisions and taking the bronze medal in the senior women’s 70 kg.

Five athletes who won gold medals in both the junior and senior competitions. They included Christopher Velazco (Coral Springs, Fla. / NYAC / Ki-itsu-sai National Training Center) in the men’s 60 kg division, Danielle Pekler (Prairie View, Ill. / Cohen Brothers Judo Club) in the women’s 57 kg, Emily Jaspe (Hialeah, Fla. / Ki-itsu-sai National Training Center) in the women’s 63 kg, Malia Manibog (San Gabriel, Calif. / San Gabriel Judo) in the women’s 48 kg and Daniel Liubimovski (Staten Island, N.Y. / NYAC / Colton Brown Training Center) in the men’s 100 kg competition.

Other judoka who were double medalists were Aaron Jen (Milpitas, Calif. / SJSU Judo) who won gold in the senior men’s division and bronze in the junior men’s division at 73 kg, Rose Marie LeCorre (Charlotte, N.C. / USA Judo National Training Team / Westlake Judo Club) who took silver in both divisions of the women’s 78 kg competition, and Jaxon Condella (Campbell, Calif. / SJSU Judo) who claimed two bronze medals in the men’s 90 kg events.
