U.S. Team Named for 2023 New York Open

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – The New York Athletic Club has selected the 10 athletes that will comprise Team USA at the New York Open Mixed Team Championships on March 25.

Featuring Olympian Angelica Delgado (Miami, Fla. / NYAC / Ki-Itsu-Sai National Training Center) and nine Senior or Junior World Team members, the U.S. team will compete against teams from France, Germany, Israel, Poland, Great Britain and Canada with athletes in the following weight categories:

Men’s 73kg, 90kg, +90kg

Women’s 48kg, 57kg, 70kg

The tournament will follow the mixed team format that will be used at the 2024 Olympic Games and will include three of the four nations that earned team medals in Tokyo with France (2020 Olympic Champions), Germany and Israel (each 2020 Olympic bronze medalists) scheduled to compete in New York.

Team USA will be coached by 2012 Olympic bronze medalist Marti Malloy (San Jose, Calif.) and two-time Olympian Colton Brown (Bridgewater, N.J.)

Athlete rosters for all nations will be released in the coming weeks.

Team USA’s athlete roster is as follows:

Women’s 48kg

Maria Laborde (Kenosha, Wis. / NYAC / Ki-Itsu-Sai National Training Center), 2014 Senior World bronze medalist and 2013 Senior World team bronze medalist

Women’s 57kg

Angelica Delgado (Miami, Fla. / NYAC / Ki-Itsu-Sai National Training Center), two-time Olympian and three-time Grand Slam medalist

Noran Elmahroukey (New Providence, N.J. / NYAC), 2018 Junior World Team member and 2018 Cadet Pan Am Champion

Women’s 70kg

Karlee Carrouth (Oklahoma City, Okla. / USA Stars), 2022 Junior World Team member and 2021 Cadet Pan Am Champion

Men’s 73kg

Dominic Rodriguez (Lehigh Acres, Fla. / NYAC / Ki-Itsu-Sai National Training Center), 2022 Senior Pan American Champion and 2022 Senior World Team member
